Young Artist Feature- Allison Abruscato

The Youth Outlook is honored to feature Ally Abruscato as our first featured youth artist! Hear from Ally and view samples of her work below.

"In my work, I aim to explore gender stereotypes, societal pressures, and mental health through self-portraiture. My photography demonstrates a complex and always evolving relationship with my surroundings. I do this by showing various sides of my identity that are usually hidden from society. By visually manipulating my images, I am able to express my disapproval toward the way society places pressures on women to meet unachievable expectations. Women are plagued with many stereotypes that they must overcome in order to reach their full potential. I want to raise awareness of societal and mental health struggles among women by representing all of those who feel hidden in their community and put down because of their gender."
