Poetry- Fear of Tomorrow by Georgette Uy

Cases are rising, people dying

Yet the saffron-yellow sun continues rising

In the face of tomorrow, I don’t know where I’ll be

When I wake up, I don’t know what I’ll see

If I were a little bird, I would fly away

Soaring past blue skies and white puffy

clouds Immensely forgetting life’s troubles

And all of my doubts

In all my days, I dare to hope

For peace, freedom, a better way to cope

No one knows what the future may hold

But the present is far more great

As I open my eyes each day

I think of how I can make a change

I can be the comfort in grief

The water for wilted leaves

Even when rains are strong, the rainbow shines brighter

I believe that the world will get better
